As many as 49 tableaux added colour to the Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari procession on Tuesday.
Two tableaus by Dasara Tableau Sub-Committee – one depicting the Hoysala Temples of Somnathpura, Belur and Halebeedu, which were added to world heritage sites list recently and Aane Gaadi, housing the Carnatic police band, who performed live – were attractive.
A total of 31 tableaux reflected regional specialties like tourist destinations, temples, culture and tradition by the respective Zilla Panchayats of all the districts of Karnataka.
While Bengaluru city depicted contributions of Kempegowda and Chandrayaan-3 and ISRO. Mysuru ZP depicted the contributions of Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and his mother Kempananjammanni to various sectors like KRS Dam and University of Mysore. Mandya ZP depicted aalemane or jaggery units which produce six to seven lakh tonne jaggery and 45 lakh tonne sugarcane grown on 42,500 hectares of land.
Tumakuru’s Moodalapaaya Yakshagaana, Vijayanagar’s Siddeshwara Swamy of Jnanayogashrama, Koppal’s cottage industries of Kinnaala Art and handlooms, Ramanagara’s Channapatna toys were attractive. Government departments dislpayed 9 tableaux, showcasing their programmes. The Department of Information and Public Relations featured guarantee schemes of the State government.
Eye-catching
Two tableaux of Social Welfare department and Karnataka Residential Education Institutions Society depicted the State’s decision on reciting the preamble of the Constitution for students of schools and colleges daily. Tableaux on Anna Bhagya scheme by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies was attractive.
The Social Welfare department had another tableau depicting the Constitution and Dr B R Ambedkar. The Department of Women and Child Development highlighted the Gruhalakshmi scheme.
The Department of Health and Family Services took the opportunity to create awareness on organ donation, portraying their Aasha Kirana programme of State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), STEMI cardiac care programme, Pre-Conception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques (PC and PNDT) programme (which prevents disclosure of sex of fetus to prevent female feticides). The Police department portrayed their people-friendly programmes.
New centenary OPD
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute had a tableau to mark its centenary year, depicting their campus and the new centenary OPD.
The tableaux of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam highlighted water management techniques, amid drought.
Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation created awareness on Agriculture solar sets, highlighted Gruha Jyothi scheme, besides their measures for electric vehicle charging points. Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation highlighted Ksheera Bhagya scheme and Nandini products.
