In poll-bound Rajasthan, Congress-BJP spar over Bharatpur tractor killing

Jaipur: Political bashing has started in Rajasthan after a man in Bharatpur district was fatally run over by a tractor in a land dispute. BJP has come down heavily on Congress, targeting the state’s deteriorating law and order situation as Rajasthan gets ready to vote on November 25.

In a horrific incident, a 30-year-old man, Nirpat Singh Gujjar was run over by a tractor, at least eight times, in Adda village, about 25 km from Bayana town in Bharatpur district. The shocking incident has gone viral on the social media, evoking sharp reaction from BJP.

Sadar police station’s sub inspector Jai Prakash toldDeccan Heraldthat there was some dispute over a passageway between two neighbours, Atar Singh Gujjar andBahadur Singh Gujjar. Today at around 7.30am, clashes broke out between the neighbours and several people were injured.

After the fight, the neighbours went off.Later one Damodar Gujjar is seen riding the tractor and killing Nirpat despite requests to stop from the deceased’s family members. Damodar is allegedly Nirpat’s brother, said Jai Prakash. Nirpat is survived by his wife and four children.

The police said both the neighbouring families are in agriculture and the dispute has been on for sometime. Cases too have been filed before involving both the families. The accused and five others have been detained and questioning is on. No arrests have been made so far.

The incident has made the opposition BJP question the collapsing law and order situation in Rajasthan.

Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has called it a heart-wrenching incident on his X timeline, saying it is a condemnable incident. He wrote such incidents have grown due to the criminal and chaotic mindset that have gained ground during the Congress rule.

BJP spokesman Sambit Patra criticised the Gehlot government saying that the situation is the same in all Congress-ruled states. He demanded that Priyanka Gandhi visit Bharatpur’s village and meet the affected family and suspend the police officials on duty before she addresses people in Jhunjhunu.

Meawnhile, ‘Jhooti Congress. Jhooti Priyanka’ also started trending on X.
