'Scary fast' hardware event: Apple may reveal new Macs next week

Last week, Apple surprised fans with the launch of an affordable Pencil stylus with USB-C port. And, everyone thought, the US tech major is done with hardware announcements for the year.

Like the iconic Steve Jobs phrase ‘one more thing’ phrase that used to be common during Apple events, the company has sprung another surprise, by announcing a Halloween-themed event in the US.

Unlike the in-person Wanderlust iPhone event, the Cupertino-based company will be hosting an online programme to reveal new products on October 30 at 5:00 pm PT (05:30 am IST).

Here’s what to expect at Apple’s October 2023 event:

The media invite theme this time is dubbed ‘Scary Fast’ and going by the latest reports, Apple is expected to reveal next-generation powerful MacBook Pro laptops along with the all-new iMac.

The company may announce just the 13-inch MacBook Pro, as the 14-inch and 16-inch models, were introduced earlier this year in January 2023. Whereas, the 13-inch variant was last refreshed in June 2022.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to be offered with the latest M3 series silicons. Apple is said to be testing at least three M3 chipsets– one regular M3, a standard M3 Pro, and a top-end M3 Max.

The new M3 series silicon is expected to come with a significant upgrade in terms of faster and more efficient performance over the predecessor.

But, not sure with which M3 silicon variant, the new MacBook Pro may launch on Monday.

Add to that, the M1-powered iMac, which is due to get a successor with M2 silicon for more than a year, is expected to boast an M3 chipset.

The upcoming 24-inch iMac is expected to feature better display and processing power to ensure a smooth workflow for creative artists and professional engineers.
